Welcome to the DIFK Kannada School.

About Us

***Our Motto is to teach our kids their mother tongue***

We started Kannada classes at DIFK in 2019 with 12 students. The classes usually take place in a class room every week. Since the pandemic struck us, we moved our classes online using ZOOM meetings every Saturday. We use the Karnataka state syllabus and work together to prepare for the Kannada examination (Hearing, Speaking, Reading & Writing) conducted by Govt. of Karnataka.

Students are very enthusiastic about learning Kannada. In 2020, all our students completed 1st year and underwent final exams, all students scored top marks and secured DIFK certificates.

Pavitra Babagond is originally from Karnataka and is a MBA graduate. For many years, she has been working for multinational companies in India and Germany. Two years ago, being passionate about the Kannada language, she picked-up the mission of teaching Kannada language to kids in Germany.

During her childhood, with special encouragement from her mother, she developed a special interest in understanding and exploring Kannada and it’s roots from Old Kannada literature.During her graduation, she visited government schools on a voluntary basis to conduct Kannada classes for Primary/High School kids. She not only continued to write articles and stories for the weekly and monthly magazines, but also associated with NINASAM - a many-winged cultural institution in Karnataka. Thus, the prevalence of language and literature magnified.

With great motivation, constant support and all required study materials from Kannada Development Authority - Govt of Karnataka , She has been successfully teaching Kannada language in Germany.

Inspired by DIKF’s service for the society and social programs, she became enthusiastic in teaching Kannada in the best possible way to non-resident Indian kids.
